We have all heard about the famous Korean skin care, also known as K-Beauty. This is not only a trend or a collection of products but also a deep-seated cultural philosophy.
In Korea, skincare has deep cultural meaning, going back to ancient dynasties, such as the Silla and Joseon periods. During that time, clear and glowing skin meant health, beauty, and social status. Even today, a healthy skin is considered a reflection of one’s inner health and state of mind.
Skin care in K-Beauty is also about self-respect, and the long-term commitment to nurturing our skin. It is not about focusing on fixing imperfections with aggressive acids or heavy concealers but finding ingredients that nurture the skin.
Golden Rule 1. Korean skincare emphasizes in prevention, deep hydration, and strengthening the natural skin barrier.
The core logic is always the same: double cleanse, layering and protection. This is the same logic we followed when we created our Kurkuma product line. We believe skincare should be gentle and effective.
That’s why our products work consistently without being harsh on your skin, with turmeric as one of our signature ingredients. We chose turmeric because it enhances skin health with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
Now let’s break down the Korean Skin Care routine:
Step 1— Double Cleanse:
The “double” comes from both oil and water-based product. First, use an oil-based cleanser to dissolve oil-based impurities like sebum, make-up, and SPF. Follow this with a water-based (foam or gel) cleanser to remove any remaining sweat or dirt. This process ensures that the skin is cleaned without being stripped off of its natural oils.
We offer a water-based cleanser for removing impurities, which also integrates ingredients responsible for removing sebum, make-up and SPF. The formula combines also includes salicylic acid, which helps clear excess oil from within the pores.
We truly believe that our skin benefits from a deeper cleanse. That’s why one of our flagship products is the Kurkuma Clay Mask.
The mask uses a blend of natural clays to help draw excess oil, dirt, and impurities out from the skin surface and the pores.
Rather than relying on surfactants, the clay works naturally to leave our skin feeling clean, balanced, and refreshed.
We recommend using the mask once or twice a week as part of your self-care routine for an extra deep cleanse.
Step 2 — Exfoliation (occasional):
Inspired by Korean skincare, we recommend gentle exfoliation that helps remove dead skin cells without harsh scrubbing. This can include peeling gels that softly lift away buildup while respecting its natural balance. In last week’s post, we have shared some simple exfoliation methods that you can try at home using natural ingredients.
Step 3 — Toner:
Toner is an essential step in any skincare routine. Inspired by Korean skincare, tonersare packed with actives which help to speed up cell turnover. While we’re currently developing a toner for the Kurkuma range, we’ve partnered with Neutriherbs to offer a gentle option that complements your routine.
Neutriherbs toner combines Witch Hazel to help refine the appearance of the skin, Niacinamide to support a healthy skin barrier, and Vitamin C to promote a brighter, more radiant complexion. Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin provide an extra boost ofhydration.
Golden Rule 2. Don’t wait too long after cleansing.
This is a simple but life-changing habit: apply toner within 3 seconds of pat-drying your face. This prevents moisture from evaporating and taking the skin’s natural hydration with it.
Step 4 — Serum:
A serum is much more than just an extra step in your skincare routine. Serums are typically formulated to address specific concerns such as dryness, uneven skin tone, or the appearance of fine lines.
Our Kurkuma Serum focuses on hydration and calm sensitive skin. The blend of botanical extracts helps soothe stressed skin. Integrated with turmeric and goji berry extracts help to provide antioxidant support and protect the skin from everyday environmental stressors. The Serum is lightweighted and easy to layer on your face.
Golden Rule 3. The Pat-Pat technique: Never rub your face. Rubbing creates friction and can cause micro-tears and premature aging. Instead, “pat” the products in. This helps absorption and increases blood flow to the surface of the skin.
Step 5 — Moisturizer:
This step seals everything into the skin while providing deep hydration and barrier reinforcement. This prevents the trans-epidermal water loss and is a very important step.
Our Kurkuma Cream combines shea butter, hyaluronic acid and skin-loving lipids to help lock in moisture and support our skin’s natural barrier. Turmeric extract and ginger root are the heart of the formula, which work together to enhance our skin’s natural radiance.
Despite its rich, nourishing ingredients, the cream feels light and comfortable on the skin. It’s the perfect step in your skincare routine to seal in hydration and give our skin the care it deserves every single day.
Golden Rule 4. Layering from thin to thick. Start with the wateriest products, e.g. toner, and end with the thickest, whether that is a rich cream or an oil. This rule allows each product to penetrate the skin layers effectively.
Step 6 — Oil:
We see facial oils as the finishing touch in a skincare routine. Inspired by Korean skincare, oils are typically applied after moisturizer to help seal in hydration and support the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
While our moisturizer delivers hydration and nourishing ingredients, a few drops of oil can help lock in those benefits. It’s a simple step that helps our skincare routine work even harder for us.
Our Kurkuma Oil consists of lightweight grapeseed oil, balancing jojoba oil, nutrient-rich rosehip oil, and soothing black cumin seed oil to help support a healthy-looking complexion.
Together with turmeric, these carefully selected ingredients create a nourishing yet lightweight oil that absorbs beautifully, leaving your skin feeling soft, and comfortable.
Step 7 — Sun Protection:
Don’t skip SPF even on a cloudy day or indoors. UVA rays, which cause aging, penetrate clouds and glass windows. Korean women apply SPF even when staying home to protect themselves against blue light from screens and indirect sunlight.
Golden Rule 5. The ultimate secret is not a 50-step routine with dozens of products, but doing your steps every single day. Beauty is built from consistency, not from one day to the next.
Our Kurkuma products are the inspiration from K-Beauty principles. And to help you with all the steps above, we have our Supreme Pack with full range of products (as many of you already know). With this pack, you can start your own K-Beauty routine anytime at the comfort of your home, in affordable price.

Word from the heart
I always emphasise that consistency, hydration and protection are our skin’s best friends. Remember that your skin is unique. Be kind to it, and give it the time it deserves. Whether you are 17 or 60, it is never too early or too late to start your own ritual of skin radiance.
With love,
Angela
